Northwest
poet and writer Christine Hemp
guides participants through the landscape of grief, using language as her
compass. With the spoken and the written word, Hemp shows how we may find
our own distinct voice to make sense of our experience.
When we can
articulate our distress, we locate our strength, Hemp says, and she is a
gentle guide. Together, participants will find meaning
in loss, and transform experience into art.
Hemp is author of
award-winning “The Land of Forgetting” about her mother’s
Alzheimer’s. She has received a Washington
State Artist Trust Fellowship for Literature, a grant from the Barbara
Deming Foundation, and an Iowa Review Award for Literary Non-Fiction.
Her poems and essays are heard on National Public Radio’s
“Morning Edition.”
